Assignment: Adoption Assistant

Supervised By: Adoption and Kennel Managers
Reports To: Director of Volunteer Administration and Outreach
General Function: Adoption Assistant volunteers know our pets inside and out, and they take care to work with potential adopters to answer questions, help them find a pet right for their home, and set them up with an adoption counselor, ensuring that prospective pet parents have all the information they need to make the best decision for their family.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greeting guests to the adoption center as they come in the door
- Explaining the GBHS adoption process
- Answering questions about GBHS adoptable
- Showing guests around the building
- Helping adopters fill out adoption applications
- Helping adoption staff with related work as assigned
Requirements:
- 18 years of age or older and able to volunteer one or more two-hour shift each week, or one or more four hour shift bi-monthly
- Customer service oriented
- Trained in Adoption Assistance
- Excellent communication skills
- Comfortable answering questions and talking to guests
